AJ Styles revealed back in March that he signed a new contract with WWE, and the all-time great is positive that it'll be his last.

Styles has talked about retirement in the past, suggesting that he doesn't want to go on much longer. The father of four has accomplished everything that all wrestlers dream of, and he sounds content in calling it a career soon.

In an interview on Lillian Garcia's Chasing Glory podcast (h/t Fightful.com), The Phenomenal One revealed that he'll be hanging up the boots once his current contract expires.

"I had no doubt that you know this is what I was going to do for my career," Styles said. "It really was. And you couldn't have told me any different. And I can tell you that the contract that I signed, here in the WWE, is my last. This is it for me. This is where I'm going to end my career no matter what happens. I got to, you know? I want to be there for my kids."

Reports said that Styles' new contract runs for five years. The former WWE Champion turned 42 in June, so if he stays on for the duration of the deal, Styles will be 46-47 years of age. Many superstars can perform at a high level in their 50s,  but Styles will be ready to call it quits before the next milestone birthday.

Styles has talked about retirement in the past, emphasizing the desire to spend more time with his family. He's been a main event star in multiple promotions across the world, and there was nothing left to accomplish once he finally joined the WWE in 2016.

He's enjoyed a pair of WWE Championship reigns and recently captured his third United States Championship. Styles has gone up against many of the WWE's top stars, including John Cena, Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, Daniel Bryan and Seth Rollins. He'll remain one of the company's top main event draws throughout the remainder of his contract, and WWE fans have to enjoy Styles while they have him.

What This Means

Now that Styles has endured a main event run - one that should see him earn a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame - there's absolutely nothing else for him to prove. Thus, it's no surprise that he'll be ready to retire when his contract runs up. You can never fault somebody for wanting to put family first, while also knowing when it's time to call it quits.
