AJ Styles is now just a few days away from holding the WWE Championship for a full year after a successful defense at Crown Jewel.

Prior to a few short days ago, we all assumed that we were going to see a dream match for the WWE Championship at Crown Jewel. AJ Styles versus Daniel Bryan for the grandest prize in the business. Due to Bryan not wanting to travel to Saudi Arabia with WWE, plans changed. Instead, the two of them had their title match on this week's SmackDown Live and The Phenomenal One retained the gold.

So what about their Crown Jewel title match? Well, that question was answered shortly after the bell on Tuesday night. Samoa Joe rushed the ring and attacked both men. Later in the night, Styles demanded that he get Joe in Saudi Arabia at Crown Jewel. The champ's wish was granted and the match was booked. Based on the pair's previous meetings, we had no complaints about them facing off again whatsoever.

The match was by no means the best the two of them have had together, but it was never going to be. Both men have traveled to the other side of the world for it after all and are likely suffering from jet lag as well as general tiredness. It was still a pretty good showing from them however, and one that Styles walked out of victorious.

The Phenomenal One finished off Joe with a Phenomenal Forearm, and that means he is inching ever closer to one full year as WWE Champion. If he can hold on to the title beyond this coming Tuesday's SmackDown Live, then he will surpass that milestone. He also continues to ascend up the longest reign rankings. Earlier this week, Styles' current reign became the 10th longest of all time.

Well, the match wasn't what we wanted it to be, but that's because it didn't feature the Superstars we thought it would. In all fairness, the match we got between Styles and Bryan on SmackDown Live might not have been as good had the two of them had to travel all the way to Saudi Arabia for it. It also won't be the last time we see Styles and Joe do battle with one another.
