WWE has removed Alexa Bliss from the Money In The Bank card and replaced her with Nikki Cross.
Money In The Bank 2019 is almost upon us. As has become the norm nowadays, there will be two ladder matches at this year's PPV. One for the men and one for the women. 16 Superstars in total vying for two MITB contracts. That contract guarantees them a World Title shot whenever and wherever they choose.
Last year, Alexa Bliss became the second ever woman to be a MITB winner. Unlike Carmella, who won the match the year before, Bliss did not hang onto that briefcase. By the end of the PPV, she had cashed in her newly won contract on Nia Jax and won the Raw Women's Title. Sadly, The Goddess will not be getting the opportunity to repeat that feat again this year.
On Thursday, WWE removed Bliss from the women's MITB match due to take place this Sunday. Apparently, the five-time Women's Champion has not been medically cleared. Since there is no TV left between now and MITB, WWE decided to announce her replacement via social media hours later. That replacement is the same Superstar who competed for her on Raw this week, Nikki Cross.
Since Cross wrestled in Bliss's place on Raw, there's a chance whatever issue Bliss is working through has been an issue for a few days at least. Considering the very limited amount of in-ring action she has seen so far in 2019, there's also the much scarier possibility that she is suffering from injuries she just can't shake. Fingers crossed that this is something new and something minor that she can move past relatively quickly.
Every cloud has a silver lining though, and Bliss's loss is very much Cross's gain. We have a gut feeling that this could be the start of something big for the Scottish Superstar. Sometimes it takes an opportunity like this for WWE to see what you have to offer. Just look at Kofi Kingston. We would not be surprised to see Cross win a MITB contract this Sunday. We think an unhinged Cross wandering around with that briefcase would make for terrific TV.
