Raw captain Alexa Bliss has finalized her team for the women's five-on-five match at Survivor Series, but it didn't come without controversy.
Natalya had been revealed as the fourth member of Bliss' team earlier in the evening. Later on, Bliss announced that best friends Sasha Banks and Bayley would face off to determine who would join the team of Natalya, Nia Jax, Tamina, and Mickie James.
But sure enough, Little Miss Bliss had a trick up her sleeve and cost the two perennial babyfaces the opportunity to join their team.
Bayley and Banks were in the midst of a high-flying, back-and-forth match. Suddenly, they were attacked by Jax, Tamina, James and Bliss. The latter announced that neither of them won the match, and Ruby Riott was revealed as the fifth and final member of Team Raw now.
These five will take on Carmella, Naomi, Asuka, Sonya Deville and the fifth member that should be revealed on Tuesday's episode of SmackDown Live. Team Raw will look to win this women's five-on-five match for the third consecutive year, as Alicia Fox captained the red brand to victory over Becky Lynch's SmackDown team in 2017.
Certainly, this played out as quite a surprise for the fans. Bayley and Banks have been two of the biggest stars on Raw for a couple of years now, but none of them are scheduled to compete on the Survivor Series card - barring any last-second or unexpected changes.
And with Team Raw featuring a mix of babyfaces (Jax and Natalya), and heels (Tamina, James and Riott), it opens up the possibility of one of them betraying the red brand - and thus lead Team SmackDown to victory.
As for Bayley and Banks, it'll also be interesting to see how WWE plays out this friendship going forward. You do wonder how much longer it'll go on before WWE gives both talents a drastic change - in character or in storyline.
