The Elite kept its promise and finally put us all out of our misery as New Year hit on the west coast via an official All Elite Wrestling announcement.

Despite the news that Raw viewership is dropping to record lows on a weekly basis, the wrestling business is currently in great shape. In fact, you could argue that the industry is looking better right now than it has done for more than 20 years. That includes WWE, just take a look at its latest TV deals, but most notably it refers to the independent scene.

It has taken a lot of work from a lot of men and women to get the indies into the position they find themselves in today. A lot of that work has been done by The Elite. Cody Rhodes, The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, they have all done a tremendous amount of work to get to where they are today, and to bring the business along with them. The group saved their biggest announcement for the turn of the year, though.

We mean that literally. Rhodes promised big news as 2018 turned into 2019 on the west coast of the US, and that news dropped via the latest episode of Being The Elite which dropped at midnight. The episode ends with Rhodes, The Bucks, and Hangman Page waiting for an announcement on their phones. When it finally drops, three of the four men receive a notification about something called Double Or Nothing.

Page has a different notification though. His screen shows a logo for All Elite Wrestling, confirmation that the group is indeed starting up its own promotion after months of speculation. So what does Double Or Nothing refer to? Well, it would appear that it will be the first AEW show and also the follow up to the extremely successful All In.

For now, the group will be turning its attention to Wrestle Kingdom 13 which takes place this weekend. Fear not, though. We won't have to wait long for more news on what's next for the now officially announced AEW. It was revealed a little later, via All In's Twitter account, that The Elite will unveil more information about AEW and Double Or Nothing next Tuesday on January 8, 2019.
