AEW All Out is now in the books which means the promotion has its first-ever World Champion, and that champion is Chris Jericho.

All Out was an important show for AEW for a lot of reasons. PAC's in-ring debut, the setting up of the Women's Title match for its first TV show, and it was the last show before that weekly show begins on October 2, 2019. However, the most important piece of business was saved for the main event. The crowning of AEW's first-ever World Champion.

The two men who competed for the title earned their way into the match all the way back at Double Or Nothing. Hangman Page did so by winning a 21-man battle royale, and Chris Jericho did so by defeating Kenny Omega. Only one of them could be AEW's first World Champion though, hence their All Out title match having no time limit.

It was a good job the match didn't have a time limit too as it may well have ended in a draw. It took an awfully long time in what was a pretty terrific match to finally crown a champion, and that champion is Chris Jericho. Y2J had to battle the odds in order to do so too as very early on in the match, the veteran was busted open right above his eye.

As Jericho continually wiped blood out of his eye, Page hit him with absolutely everything he had. So much so that it felt as if it was only a matter of time before Jericho eventually wouldn't be able to get his shoulder up before a three count. The surefire Hall of Famer battled through though, and after he hit Page with the Judas Effect, Y2J covered him for the win.

The closing shot of All Out, and the last we'll see of AEW until its weekly show begins, was Jericho kissing his newly won World Championship. Some might think making someone Jericho's age World Champion doesn't make much sense. On the contrary, we think the decision was best for business. AEW wants a household name as its champion heading into October. We imagine Y2J will lose the title in his first scheduled defense which will take place on AEW's third TV show.
