Manchester United could soon be down a couple of players as Matteo Darmian and Anthony Martial may seek out fresh challenges.

While the transfer window is always one of the most exciting times of the season, in the Premier League this summer it has an added twist. Usually, the window does not slam shut until the end of August, so a few weeks into the season, however, this time around it will close on August 9, 2018, before a ball has even been kicked.

Manchester United will kick off the Premier League season the very next day as they take on Leicester City on August 10, and who will be starting that match is still very much in the air. Jose Mourinho has hinted that Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford will still be resting at the start of the season due to how much they played at this summer's World Cup, so the boss will likely look to Anthony Martial to fill their boots.

The trouble is, according to Sky Sports, Martial wants out of Old Trafford. The Frenchman wants to play on a more regular basis and apparently, there are a number of suitors who are ready to offer him that. Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Chelsea are reported to be in the running for his signature. If Martial opts for the latter he could end up replacing a potentially departing Eden Hazard.

Someone who has been appearing even less for Manchester United than Martial is Matteo Darmian. The Italian defender only made it onto the pitch seventeen times in all competitions last season and if he is also looking for more consistency, the president of Napoli, Aurelio De Laurentiis may have an out for him. The Italian club's leader has declared his interest in bringing the full back to Serie A.

While Martial will take some replacing, Darmian probably already has. Mourinho has already signed Diogo Dalot from Porto and even though he is reported to be out with an injury until at least September, the new signing will push Darmian even further down the pecking order when he is ready to debut. In terms of Martial, the United boss will be eager to convince him to remain at Old Trafford if he truly intends on letting Lukaku and Rashford rest for a couple of extra weeks.
