Cody Rhodes versus Shawn Spears had a lot of bells and whistles including a run-in from The Enforcer, Arn Anderson.

With Jon Moxley versus Kenny Omega on the backburner (for now) the All Out match with the biggest backstory was Shawn Spears versus Cody Rhodes. The build to the match technically began when Rhodes referred to Spears as a "good hand". The Perfect Ten responded by cracking Rhodes' head open with a steel chair at AEW Fyter Fest.

Despite AEW's weekly show not starting yet, the promotion did a pretty good job of keeping the hype for this match going. Via episodes of The Road To All Out, the rivalry has had layers added to it. Through the addition of Tully Blanchard to Spears' camp, and MJF fighting Rhodes' proverbial corner by taking some very real shots at Spears' real-life wife, Peyton Royce.

ALL OUT 2019: PAC Picks Up A Surprise Win Over Kenny Omega

The match itself at All Out was not the best of either man's career, but it was still pretty entertaining. As expected, there were a lot of distractions. At one point, we even saw Blanchard and MJF clash in the ring. As the veteran took it to MJF outside the ring, and thus took Earl Hebner's attention away from the match, an unexpected fifth party joined the fray.

That man was WWE Hall Of Famer, Arn Anderson. The Enforcer stormed down to the ring, delivered a devastating spine-buster to Spears, and then made his way back to the locker room. A shocked Blanchard then chased after him, and the tide of the match had been well and truly turned. From that point on, it was all Rhodes, and The American Nightmare eventually finished off Spears for the win.

Considering the heel character MJF portrays, and effectively lives by, we were expecting to see him turn on the man he claims to be his best friend. That turn was hinted at more than once during the match, and it even looked like he was considering hitting Rhodes with a chair once all was said and done. If that turn is indeed coming, it seems as if AEW is saving it for its TV show.
