Reports are surfacing that the reason Arn Anderson was released by WWE is that he let Alicia Fox wrestle after arriving at a WWE event intoxicated.

When Arn Anderson was released a couple of weeks ago, there was some shock among insiders but also reports that Vince McMahon and Anderson didn't always see eye to eye. Speculation was the two men had finally come to the end of their respective ropes and agreed to part ways. A recent report by WrestlingInc. suggests there may be more the story of Anderson's firing.

"Wrestling Inc. has confirmed with multiple sources that Anderson was fired because [Alicia] Fox showed up at a live event intoxicated," the scribe writes. They add that Anderson was the agent for her match, knew she was not fit to perform and let her anyway, potentially risking serious injury to her opponent. Vince McMahon was reportedly furious when he found out and it was the final straw, resulting in Anderson's immediate termination.

Known as Double-A, it appears Vince would have preferred Anderson send Alicia to a AA meeting than let her in the ring and to that end, McMahon might have a point. Anderson was a veteran on the WWE producing team having worked for the company since 2001. If anyone could have recognized the harm that could come of an intoxicated Fox trying to wrestle, it should have been Anderson.

What This Means

Anderson's termination was not merely about Vince and Arn not getting along. If Vince was concerned about the safety of his performers, he was right to make the call that he did, having a zero-tolerance policy for this kind of thing. As for Fox, her status with WWE is uncertain.

Often a performer to get in hot water backstage, showing up drunk to an event is the kind of thing that will get you fired. For Fox, she's already not regularly used on WWE programming and, while a veteran in the Womens' Division, likely won't be missed.
