If you're one of the many who thought having Jinder Mahal go over Jeff Hardy on Monday's Raw was a bad decision, you're probably not going to like where WWE is rumored to be taking Mahal's character.

As per WrestlingNews.co, Mahal isn't just going to pick up clean wins over talents like Hardy. The plan is for the Modern Day Maharaja to head down the pathway to a major feud with a former WWE Champion and main event star in Drew McIntyre.

The report suggests the feud is expected to run across the summer and it could be something WWE has on the card for SummerSlam.

This is an on-screen rivalry that was meant to happen last year and after the Scottish Warrior won the WWE Championship. As part of his first title run, Mahal was going to be a challenger he had to deal with. That plan took a sideways turn when a knee injury to Mahal forced WWE to change direction.

Now back from his injury and aligned with Veer and Shanky, Mahal and McIntyre is a feud everyone behind the scenes seems to want. From creative to McIntyre and Mahal, all parties are on board. The only difference this go around is that it might not be a battle over the WWE title.

Does This Foreshadow The Outcome At WrestleMania Backlash?

Speculation is that McIntyre is happy enough not to be involved in the title scene so he can work a program with his close friend. The question will be if this is a step back for Drew after working hard to get to where he is. On the other hand, this could be a great opportunity to elevate another heel into the main event scene.

When this feud will start is still unclear. Currently, McIntyre is a part of the Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania Backlash this Sunday. Most insiders believe Lashley will retain and if he does, it could free up McIntyre to work with Mahal over the next couple of months.
