If Sasha Banks and Bayley get through Extreme Rules event with their singles titles in tact, it sounds like they know which tag team they want next.
The WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions successfully retained the titles over Kairi Sane and Raw Women’s Champion Asuka on Monday’s episode of Raw. They'll now move on to their singles matches at Extreme Rules, where Bayley will take on Nikki Cross and Banks will meet Asuka.
But, after Raw last night, The Kabuki Warriors hinted they'd be challenging each other, Sane saying she was ready for Asuka and wanted her in a match. That leaves the tag team champions open to finding a new duo to battle against, especially with SummerSlam not far around the corner.
Instead of The Iiconics or Cross and Alexa Bliss, Bayley took to her official Twitter account Monday night and made it clear that the tag team wants to take on WWE Hall of Famers Lita and Trish Stratus at SummerSlam. She wrote, “Let’s seee, another dream match down, another victory won. Sooooo…..after we get all the gold Extreme Rules …….. we will take Lita and Trish at Summerslam. Thank youuuuuuuu #raw.”
While there's been no talk of Stratus or Lita at SummerSlam, there are rumors WWE has completely shifted gears on the card now that it will be at the WWE Performance Center and it might make sense to put together a match that will have some clear appeal to it. Of course, Stratus was in action last year at SummerSlam when she lost to Charlotte. Perhaps she'd like a chance to improve her SummerSlam record.
A Cinematic Match?
The women of WWE have yet to have their crack at a cinematic match and this could be a good opportunity for the company to do something different. Both Stratus and Lita are a bit older, but both can still go and Bayley and Banks have been so effective as heel champions, they deserve the opportunity to try something unique.
