Batista has talked about his desire to have one more run with the WWE, and the 50-year-old future Hall of Famer and Hollywood actor seems to be getting closer to returning once and for all.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, Batista met with WWE officials on Thursday last week in Connecticut. Details about how the meeting went are unknown at this time, but it's worth noting that All Elite Wrestling also seems interested in signing the former WWE Champion.

Fellow WWE legend Chris Jericho - who signed with AEW - posted a photo of him and Batista together on his Instagram page. As PWInsider noted, it's safe to believe that the two superstars talked about AEW.

The Animal returned to WWE the SmackDown 1000 episode, reuniting with his former Evolution counterparts. Batista bragged to Triple H about the fact that his former leader has yet to defeat him, teasing a potential match at WrestleMania 35.

However, Triple H is still recovering from a torn pectoral he suffered at the Crown Jewel pay-per-view. Though he's been training extensively to get back in the ring, it's believed that he won't be cleared in time for an in-ring return at WrestleMania. That means another match against Batista is highly unlikely.

Batista left the WWE in 2010 after creative differences, but he made a return to the squared circle in 2014. But once again, The Animal disagreed with the direction of his character, and he left after just five months back in the WWE.

Of course, Batista has also been occupied with the Hollywood life, as he continues to find more big movie roles. But the future Hall of Famer seems intent on making things right before he closes the book on his historic wrestling career, which could explain his desire for one more run in WWE.

What This Means

If Batista does return to the WWE soon, it'll be interesting to see who he will feud with - considering that Triple H probably won't be cleared in time for WrestleMania. But the bottom line here is that he seems close to a return after years of speculation, and his WWE career will finally end on a high note.
