It was revealed on WWE Main Event this week that Becky Lynch will get her title rematch against Asuka at Royal Rumble.

Heading into the SmackDown Women's Title match at TLC, it's safe to say that most of us couldn't have predicted who was going to win. Many of us guessed, but it wasn't a sure thing. Any of the three women in the match could have feasibly walked out champion. That being said, we have no complaints that it was Asuka who won the first-ever women's TLC match.

Lynch and Charlotte Flair obviously weren't happy with how the match ended. The two of them addressed that at the top of this week's SmackDown Live. The pair did not get the outcome they would have been hoping for, though. Vince McMahon came to the ring and effectively said neither of them deserves a title shot. Instead, he called out Naomi and let her have a shot at Asuka instead.

The even worse news for Lynch is something Shane McMahon said this week. The SmackDown Live commissioner labeled contractually obligated rematches "antiquated" and that they will not be a part of the new McMahon family regime. That's why something revealed by Scott Stamford on this week's Main Event was a little confusing. Stamford revealed Lynch will be getting her rematch versus Asuka at Royal Rumble.

The announcement also throws a wrench into what many fans were expecting in the New Year. Most have been assuming that Lynch is on a collision course with Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 35. The easiest and quickest way to do that is to have The Man win the women's Royal Rumble match next month. Then again, there is no reason that can't still happen if she fails to beat Asuka earlier in the evening.

Whatever happens, the fact remains that the women's division, in particular anything involving Lynch, is the most entertaining thing in WWE right now. It is looking more and more likely that female Superstars will headline WrestleMania for the first time in 2019, it's just a case of figuring out which women get to fill those elusive slots. We have said it before and we will say it again, if Lynch does not headline WrestleMania 35, we riot.
