According to leaked documents on Twitter, Becky Lynch will be the cover star of WWE 2K20 and thus be the first female Superstar to do so.
Wrestling fans have had front row seats to the women's revolution in the business over the last few years. Not just in WWE, but across the entire industry. Every time we think they have knocked down that final domino, they up the ante again. From competing inside Hell In A Cell, to the introduction of the women's Royal Rumble, to the first ever women's main event at WrestleMania.
Now it seems that the next step is a female wrestler being the cover star for WWE 2K. According to leaked documents, reported on by Fox Sports, that next milestone could be hit later this year. The documents state that Becky Lynch will be the cover star of WWE 2K20. If the rumors are true, then Lynch will be the first female cover star in WWE 2K history.
While women have appeared on wrestling video game covers in the past, it has never been a solo showing. Plus, WWE 2K has never featured a woman on the cover. Since the developers took over in 2013, The Rock, John Cena, Stone Cold, Brock Lesnar, Seth Rollins, and AJ Styles have graced the cover.
The leaked document has also revealed other plans for the game. It suggests that Hall Of Fame wrestlers will be playable characters and that this year's story mode will revolve around D-Generation X. If true, that would mean Chyna will be featured on a WWE game for the first time since SmackDown 2: Know Your Role, which was released almost 20 years ago.
All in all, if the document turns out to be legitimate, the next edition of WWE 2K could be a big one for female Superstars and fans of women's wrestling. Not just because The Man might be on the front, but we could also have the chance to use Chyna for the first time in almost two decades. An alternate cover featuring the Ninth Wonder Of The World would be a cool bonus too. Just a suggestion if anyone important happens to read this.
