The Bella Twins were set to return to WWE "in a big way" according to Nikki Bella, who has revealed that there were plans to take on the IIconics for the Women's tag titles.
Nikki, who recently revealed that a brain cyst has forced her to retire from wrestling for good, hosted The Bella Twins podcast alongside her sister Brie and claimed that they would have been part of a long feud with the tag title holders following their WrestleMania 35 win over Sasha Banks and Bayley.
Unfortunately, current circumstances make it so that Nikki cannot take part in in-ring competition anymore.
“Brie and I, we were gonna come back and fight for the tag titles after WrestleMania and we were gonna go against The IIconics for a few months,” Nikki revealed (via Sescoops).
“Deep down inside, I kept having this weird feeling that I needed to get an x-ray on my neck because, for a while, I wasn’t feeling okay. Brie knows that in December after Evolution, I just kept telling her that I feel off and my head doesn’t feel right…”
The former WWE Diva lamented on her situation, stating that she was poised to make a big return to wrestling. The twins were meant to begin a rivalry with the IIconics on the SmackDown Live which followed WrestleMania but results of an MRI would lay waste to the plans.
Doctors told Nikki that her neck was fully herniated while a cyst was also found on her brain. Thankfully, the latter is benign but one faulty landing could leave her paralyzed.
“We were ready,” she added. “Bella Twins were coming back in a big way.”
