Normally, once the road to WrestleMania comes to an end big moments in WWE can become few and far between for a little while. This time of year is normally known for being something of a down period in WWE but this year that is definitely not the case. Things have not slowed down since the show of shows and they won't be any time soon either with the Greatest Royal Rumble taking place next week and then Backlash the week after that. That's what's coming next though and for now, read on and relive the biggest moments from this week's SmackDown Live.

Whisper In The Wind

Jeff Hardy has only just returned to action after a long-term spell on the sidelines due to an injury but he has certainly been making up for lost time. On Raw last night, the veteran welcomed Jinder Mahal to Monday nights by defeating him for the United States Championship, the first time Hardy has ever held the title. SmackDown Live's higher-ups were probably pretty broken up at losing the championship but fear not as Hardy brought it back to the blue brand 24 hours later. In his first match back on the blue brand, Hardy defeated Shelton Benjamin and he did it in style. The former WWE Champion has so many crazy moves in his repertoire and a perfectly performed Whisper in the Wind was the highlight of them on Tuesday.

The Moment The Bludgeon Brothers Showed Mercy

So often these SmackDown Live Biggest Moments articles are jam-packed with the heinous actions of the Bludgeon Brothers. No matter what you can rely on Harper and Rowan to do something incredible. Well, they did once again this week but in a very different way. Harper made short work of Jey Uso in singles competition then both he and Rowan went about picking apart both Samoan twins after the match. With Jimmy slumped against the steel steps the contemplated smashing his head with one of their mallets. That was until Naomi came to the aid of her husband and begged her not to do it, at which point the Tag Team Champions demonstrated a rare moment of mercy.

Samoa Joe Punishes Sin Cara

No switch from Raw to SmackDown Live or vice versa over the last couple of days will have put the Superstars of the respective roster on notice quite like the arrival of Samoa Joe on Tuesday nights. The Destroyer has been engaged in brutal battles with the likes of Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar while on Raw and now he will bring his unique brand of punishment to SmackDown Live. In fact, he has already given his new peers a preview with the help of his first opponent, Sin Cara. The former NXT Champion made extremely, short work of the luchador and thanks to the above knee to the head Sin Cara may not even remember facing Joe.

Asuka Cleans House

At WrestleMania, Asuka's unbelievable undefeated streak came to an end at the hands of Charlotte Flair. Whether she has been taking a well-deserved break since then or has simply been at home licking her wounds is unclear but she has been on neither Raw nor SmackDown Live. That was until Tuesday night. The Empress confirmed that she is now a member of Team Blue when she came to the ring to even the odds during a three-on-two beat down. The Iconics and Carmella were taking it to Flair and Becky Lynch, but that quickly came to an end once Asuka was in the ring. An elbow and a suplex to Peyton Royce followed by a kick to the head of Billie Kay meant all three women could then focus their attention on the Women's Champion.

Another Low Blow And Then That Big Boot

Thanks to what happened during the opening segment of SmackDown Live, our main event of the night featured Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles up against Rusev and Aiden English. Styles technically beat Rusev in extremely short order at the start of the night, but the tag match was a lot longer and much more entertaining. It still looked as if Styles and Bryan were going to overcome Rusev Day, but the match was thrown out thanks to a couple of rogue wrestlers making their presence felt. Shinsuke Nakamura struck Styles while he was on the apron with yet another low blow, and inside the ring, it was all about a returning Big Cass. The seven-footer knocked Bryan to the floor with a devastating big boot and with that the referee called for the bell.
