Bobby Lashley made an epic return to the WWE last week, interrupting and Elias segment on Monday Night Raw and squashed him with ease.
Lashley will stay on the Raw brand in the aftermath of the Superstar Shake-Up, and there's only one more week until the Greatest Royal Rumble pay-per-view in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia next Friday.
The WWE Universe was probably wondering what the future plans are for Lashley, and we may finally have an idea. According to a report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, there are local advertisements in the Middle East that Lashley will be taking part in the ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship. Johnson is looking to confirm that from sources.
Thus far, The Miz, Finn Balor, Samoa Joe and defending champion Seth Rollins are set to take part in the match. But with Joe and Miz now on the SmackDown Live Brand, it's difficult to envision them winning the match - unless Jeff Hardy loses the United States Championship to Jinder Mahal. That would mean the US and Intercontinental titles switch brands.
Lashley could be in line for a major push, immediately after joining the WWE once again. It's reasonable to believe that he could win the Intercontinental Championship, but there are also rumors that he could soon face Universal Champion Brock Lesnar - perhaps at the Aug. 19 SummerSlam pay-per-view.
Per source: Lesnar vs Lashley has been discussed, however, in the discussions I’ve been told about it wouldn’t be for the title, and it wouldn’t be anytime soon. Most likely to be at a big show like SummerSlam that needs high profile names. #Raw— PWStream (@PWStream) April 15, 2018
Lashley has a strong background in MMA and was one of the major faces in Impact Wrestling for a decade, so he's obviously a major win of an addition for the WWE roster. He's already a popular babyface and probably doesn't need long to get pushed as a main event superstar.
For now, we'll monitor the situation closely and see if Lashley is indeed part of the Intercontinental Championship match next Friday.
