Bobby Lashley Promises Match Against Brock Lesnar

Bobby Lashley returned to the WWE the day after WrestleMania 34, but WWE has yet to book that "Wow" match for the former two-time ECW Champion.

Many fans had hoped for a match between Lashley and Universal Champion Brock Lesnar. After all, both men have strong MMA backgrounds and success, so a match between the two superstars would be a huge money maker - and Lashley would be a somewhat realistic candidate to beat Lesnar in a fight.

Well, Lashley delivered some good news for WWE fans in a recent interview with Sportbible, promising fans that he will go up against The Beast Incarnate at some point in the future.

"Absolutely," Lashley said, when questioned about a desire to go up against the Universal Champion. "I can post anything on social media and the people will reply we wanna see you and Brock, it's something that has been building for the last 10 years so eventually it's gonna happen because the fans want it to happen that bad."

With Roman Reigns announcing that he had Leukemia and had to relinquish the Universal Championship, it became just Lesnar vs. Braun Strowman at Crown Jewel. Baron Corbin attacked The Monster Among Men before the match, helping Lesnar defeat Strowman to win the Universal title for the second time in his career.

Lashley turned heel last month after brutally attacking Kevin Owens, perhaps hinting that the creative team is finally ready to do something big with the former United States Champion. Before that, Lashley was easily defeating the likes of Elias and Sami Zayn, but he's now playing bad guy - with Lio Rush acting as his manager now.

Lesnar's current deal with the WWE is short term, and it's well known that he's headed back to the UFC soon. That means a match with Lashley would have to happen in the very near future; perhaps at the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania 35.

It's unknown how long Reigns will be out of action for, but it also doesn't make sense for Lesnar to hold onto the Universal Championship much longer. He's set to go up against WWE Champion AJ Styles at Survivor Series for a second straight year, but it's anybody's guess what will happen with Lesnar after that.

But if Lashley is really telling the truth, fans can expect a dream match between the two MMA superstars and heavyweights soon enough.
