Braun Strowman went into this week's Raw thinking he could become US Champion. Instead, he left the show as a two-time Tag Team Champion.

Braun Strowman has been treading water for the past few months or more in WWE. That all changed last week. As Seth Rollins and Ricochet were struggling to fend off The OC, The Monster Among Men stormed the ring to level the playing field. AJ Styles didn't take too kindly to that and challenged Strowman to a match on this week's Raw.

Not just a match, but a title match. With Gallows & Anderson in his corner, The Phenomenal One was pretty confident Strowman wouldn't be able to take his title from him. Turns out he was right, as the inevitable happened. When things didn't look good for Styles, his cronies got involved and the match was thrown out.

Rollins appeared to be more angered by that than Strowman. Shortly after, The Architect asked Raw's Resident Monster to be his tag partner later that night in another title match. This time, Gallows & Anderson's Tag Team Championships would be on the line. Despite not being able to take his eyes off of the Universal Title, Strowman agreed to Rollins' request. Once Rollins ironed out the details, the match was set.

Vince McMahon might not think much of tag team wrestling, but he definitely has an affinity for odd couple teams winning gold. That was proved again on Monday night. The team of Strowman and Rollins defeated two-thirds of The OC, ending Gallows & Anderson's latest reign as champions at just three weeks. WWE now has the awkward situation of one-half of the champs wanting his partner's more prestigious title.

Not only is WWE no stranger to odd couple Tag Team Champions, but neither are the new titleholders. Strowman's previous reigns as a Tag Champion was alongside 10-year-old Nicholas, who he plucked from the crowd at WrestleMania 34. Rollins has also won the titles with someone he wasn't in an official tag team with, Jason Jordan. Here's hoping this reign will be the most successful of the three.
