Brock Lesnar made a shocking return at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view match between Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman, viciously attacking both of them and prompting the match to be ruled a no contest.

On the following day's episode of Monday Night Raw, acting GM Baron Corbin said Lesnar would compete in a triple threat match with Strowman and Reigns for the Universal Championship at Crown Jewel.

Despite the belief among many that Lesnar was thrown into Crown Jewel at the last minute, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that this is not the case.

Rather, Lesnar's camp was expecting him to receive a major offer from Vince McMahon for both Crown Jewel and WrestleMania 35. Because Lesnar hadn't signed a new contract with UFC, they weren't able to "block" him from competing in the WWE again. Thus, the deal to return at Crown Jewel was made "several weeks ago," according to Meltzer.

Meltzer did note that WWE and UFC aren't on bad terms by any means, and that they probably wouldn't have stopped him from wrestling again anyway. On top of that, Lesnar may "play both sides" in order to obtain the best contract possible when it comes to WWE and UFC vying for his services.

Reigns defeated Lesnar at SummerSlam to end his 504-day reign as Universal Championship. Leading up to the Reigns victory, it was unclear what the future would hold for Lesnar in the WWE. Some even though he would leave for good after dropping the title.

But both WWE and UFC value Lesnar, and he can max out on massive paydays just by making part-time appearances. Lesnar remains one of the top main event draws in WWE, and we know how much the company values him. As such, it's not the least bit shocking that he's already back for another title match.
