WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar returned to his alma mater, the University of Minnesota, on Wednesday, visiting the gym and handing out tips to the school's wrestling team.

The former UFC Heavyweight Champion would also hit the mats for a session with star heavyweight Gable Steveson.

Steveson was recently ranked No.1 in the collegiate heavyweight division after improving his record to 20-0 against Iowa. The college star was also a four-time state champion in high school.

He must have had the time of his life grappling with the WWE superstar, who has achieved some of the biggest feats in amateur wrestling, MMA and Wrestling entertainment. And, following what should have been a very memorable moment, the Gopher posted a photo of himself and Lesnar on Twitter along with the caption: "Thank you Brock for coming in today and working with me!"

As you'll see in the video below, the champion displayed impressive speed and agility but Steveson also showed that he's no slouch.

The WWE published a short report of the day's happenings on their official website, revealing that their scouts spotted Lesnar at the very university nearly 20 years ago.

"University of Minnesota freshman Gable Steveson has shot to the top of the national rankings with a 20-0 start to his collegiate career, and another high-profile veteran of the program stopped by to drill with the ascendant star: Universal Champion Brock Lesnar," the report from WWE.com reads.

"The Beast Incarnate, whose career as a Gopher helped him catch the eye of WWE talent scouts almost twenty years ago, sparred with the top-ranked heavyweight earlier today, as shown in a video posted by the team’s official Twitter account."

What This Means

Brock and Gable weren't strangers prior to Wednesday's sparring session. According to the Wrestling Observer, the champ brought the prospect backstage at a WWE Live event while he was still in high school.

The publication also reports that both Paul Heyman and Gerald Briscoe know about Steveson, who is likely to train with Lesnar in the future.

The WWE has a policy in place which restricts them from signing Division I wrestlers. However, they are thought to be very interested in the student and hope to make him the next big star to hail from Minnesota and follow in Lesnar's footsteps.
