To some, the writing was on the wall for Brock Lesnar to leave the WWE after WrestleMania 34.

His contract was to expire after the big show, and a large portion of the WWE Universe assumed that Roman Reigns would defeat Lesnar and become the new Universal Champion. After all, the company has spent four years trying to push the Big Dog as the next face of pro wrestling.

But when all was said and done, the Beast Incarnate beat, battered and bloodied Reigns for an easy pin and victory. The next day, WWE announced that Lesnar had signed a new deal with WWE and once again defend his championship vs. Reigns at the Greatest Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, Lesnar's new deal was put into place on the Apr. 2 episode of Monday Night Raw, the "go-home" episode before WrestleMania. It was officially signed on Sunday, before he went to face Reigns in the ring.

However, details on the terms of the contract aren't known at this time. There have been conflicting reports from different sources, and Meltzer isn't sure if Lesnar signed a long-term deal or if he only signed on for another fight.

Meltzer also reported that the contract was kept behind closed doors, that very few people inside the WWE knew about Lesnar signing a new contract. So it's safe to assume many WWE superstars were shocked to see the events unfold at WrestleMania and on the following day's episode of Raw.

UFC president Dana White confirmed last week that Lesnar would be returning to the octagon, which fueled speculation that the Universal Champion would be leaving the WWE for a second time.

But as it turns out, WWE hid their contract negotiations with Lesnar well, and Suplex City isn't ready to relocate from the squared circle. Yet.
