New NXT North American Champion Bronson Reed gave an emotional speech to fans inside the Capitol Wrestling Center following his victory over Johnny Gargano on the most recent edition of NXT.

After the show went off the air, Reed was joined in the ring by his wife, Paige.

“Thank you, everyone that’s here, thank you,” Reed said. “That’s all of you fans that come here and always support us guys. To the people at the commentary desk, thank you. To everyone in the back, thank you. Everyone that believed in me to get where I am today, but most of all, thank you to my wife, Paige.”

After Paige's introduction, fans began to chant "Thank you Paige!"

“It’s hard being the wife of a pro wrestler, especially the past 14 years when I had zero dollars in the bank," the Aussie continued. "She supported me and this is the reason why now I’m living my dream, and I am the new North American Champion! The Colossal Era of NXT has begun.”

In case you missed it, Reed won the gold by defeating defending champion Johnny Gargano in a steel cage in the main event of Wednesday's NXT.

Triple H Congratulates Bronson Reed

Following Reed's victory, Triple H took to social media to praise the new champion.

"You don’t always see the struggles or the setbacks but tonight we saw a 14 year journey punctuated by [Bronson Reed] becoming the NEW [NXT North American] Champion," Triple H captioned an image of himself with Reed.

Bronson Reed's wrestling career began in Australia in 2007. He performed for numerous promotions in his homeland, and later appeared in Japan's Pro Wrestling NOAH promotion, UK-based promotions Revolution Pro Wrestling and PROGRESS Wrestling, the German promotion Westside Xtreme Wrestling and American indie promotion Pro Wrestling Guerrilla.

Reed signed for WWE in January 2019 and debuted for NXT at a house show in March of that year.
