The Cleveland Browns scored a whopping 28 points on the road against the Cincinnati Bengals, ending an embarrassing 27-year drought.

Per ESPN Stats and Information (via Pat McManamon), it's the first time the Browns have put up 28 points in the first half since Dec. 1, 1991. In that game, Cleveland took a 31-0 lead into half time against the Indianapolis Colts on the road.

That score held up, and the long-suffering Cleveland fans waited nearly three decades for their team to finally put up such a great amount of points at half. Throw in the fact the Browns won their first game in nearly two years back in September, and 2018 really has been kind to the franchise this year.

Cleveland began the rally with a one-yard touchdown run from Nick Chubb in the first quarter. Over eight minutes later, Baker Mayfield tossed a touchdown pass to Antonio Callaway to make it 14-0.

Mayfield threw touchdown passes to David Njoku and Chubb in the second quarter that built the lead to 28-0. An interception by Andy Dalton deep in his own territory set up the Browns' third touchdown of the game.

Though the Browns aren't making the playoffs in 2018, this team is far from the worst in the NFL. With Mayfield, Chubb and Myles Garrett in place, the Browns are showing some big-time promise, giving fans something to look forward to after decades of misery.

With the loss, the Bengals fall to 5-6 and see their playoff hopes take a huge blow. It's a nice feel-good win for the Browns, who get to relish the spoiler role for the rest of the season.

What This Means

Well, the Browns ended one very embarrassing (albeit specific), drought. The bigger focus is to make the playoffs for the first time since 2002 - and to win their first Super Bowl in franchise history.
