Former NXT Tag-Team Champion To Make Main Roster Debut

The WWE 205 Live roster is growing even bigger, as the company announced a major addition to the show:

Buddy Murphy is set to face Daivari next week, as one of the primary stars from the NXT brand gets a call up to the big show. The 28-year-old Australian is engaged to current Raw Women's Champion Alexa Bliss, and should instantly make a major impact on the 205 Live roster - which introduced Drake Maverick (previously Rockstar Spud in Impact Wrestling), as its new general manager.

Murphy had been forced to lose weight before he joined the 205 Live roster, and he's been quietly regarded as one of the WWE's top secret weapons. A former NXT Champion with Blake, Murphy is an established in-ring performer with strong microphone skills. There's no doubting that he was more than ready to get the chance to flourish on the main roster.

Murphy joined the NXT roster in March 2013, and began partnerships/rivalries with the likes of Elias, Big Cass, Aiden English, Simon Gotch, Bobby Roode, Shinsuke Nakamura and others. Most of these call ups have flourished instantly, so Murphy should be in good company when he debuts on 205 Live.

The brand is strictly for superstars who weigh 205 pounds or less, and Murphy was previously billed at 204.4. The brand was first introduced on Nov. 29, 2016 - and is used primarily to help build up the Cruiserweight Division.

Murphy and Tye Dillinger defeat the aforementioned Elias and Bobby Roode on Jan. 4, 2017, and he would then go on to wrestle non-televised shows for the NXT brand. Some fans weren't sure what the future held for him, but it's clear Triple H and co. are ready to give him the big push he deserves.

There's no doubting that Murphy's addition will make the 205 Live roster much more relevant and exciting. Nobody should be surprised if he becomes the top star on the brand before long.
