Saturday, April 7, 2018, saw Ring of Honor put on one of their biggest shows ever the night before Wrestlemania 34. One of the co-main event matches saw Kenny Omega take on Cody Rhodes for the leadership of the Bullet Club stable, once and for all putting their big feud to rest. A the end though, things were far from decided, at least as far as the rivalry went. Despite all the money and effort that the WWE has put into WrestleMania weekend, by the time the Omega/Rhodes match was finished, the focus of the wrestling fans in New Orleans was on RoH.

The match for the Bullet Club came at the tail end of months of back and forth between the two wrestlers after Cody unceremoniously attacked Omega and threw him out of the stable. This attack didn’t sit well with some of the members and led to Matt and Nick Jackson of the Young Bucks interfering in order to return Omega to his rightful place at the head of the faction. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned, and the pair mistakenly hit Kenny, leaving Rhodes to get the roll-up victory.

Toward the end of the match, Omega and Rhodes backed into a corner, accidentally knocking out the referee. The Jackson Brothers seized that opportunity to come down to ringside and get involved. As Rhodes struggled to get up, the Young Bucks prepared to deliver a superkick to him, which would all but guarantee the victory for The Cleaner. Rhodes managed to duck the assault, however, and Omega took the brunt of it.

The feud involving Kenny Omega and Cody Rhodes has been ongoing since Rhodes joined the Club in December during NJPW’s World Tag League Finals. Ever the opportunist, Cody managed to oust Omega and take over as the leader. As two of Kenny’s long-time friends, the Young Bucks took exception to this, though they remained with the group. This all came to a head at March’s Strong Style Evolved show, when Matt and Nick Young were left questioning their allegiance after Cody came down to confront the brothers.

As it stands right now, Cody Rhodes is the undisputed leader of the Bullet Club stable. This doesn’t mean that everything is OK now. Going forward, it remains to be seen what the aftermath is going to entail. Will Omega forgive the Young Bucks and reform the “Elite?” Or, was this all just a ruse to get Omega out of the way once and for all? Given Cody Rhodes’ history as a narcissistic heel, all signs point to the latter. Either way, coming into the summer, things are looking very interesting for everyone involved.
