There's good news coming out of Brooklyn following the terrible injury to Caris LeVert on Monday night.

Fortunately, the guard won't require surgery as he has no broken bones, with the Nets' orthopedist Dr. Martin O'Malley having revealed that the player only suffered moderate ligament damage after dislocating his right foot.

It was feared that LeVert would miss the remainder of the campaign when he was stretchered off of the court and taken to a hospital - the result of an improper landing after colliding with the Minnesota Timberwolves' Jeff Teague - but the medical expert has revealed that the player will be able to resume full activity without restriction after a period of rehabilitation.

"Fortunately, tests performed this morning revealed that there are no fractures and only moderate ligament damage," Dr. O'Malley in a statement, via the team's official website on Tuesday.

"While the optics of this injury may have appeared to be more severe, surgery will not be required. Caris will begin a period of rehabilitation with the Nets' performance staff, following which he is expected to return to full strength and resume all basketball activities without any limitations this season."

The player has since tweeted that he can't wait to get back on the court, also thanking those who showed him support in the wake of the injury.

"I just want to thank God above all things b/c despite how bad the injury looked, it could’ve been a lot worse. Thanks to all for the prayers, messages, love, support for both my family & me. We appreciate you all! Can’t wait to get back out there with my brothers!!!"

Boston Celtics Star Gordon Hayward, who missed all but five minutes of the previous season with a very bad foot injury, reached out to LeVert to let him know he's there to help.

The unfortunate incident had left the Timberwolves' Target Center in stunned silence as players from both teams were moved to tears after seeing the guard's foot.

"There was really just no words," LeVert's teammate Joe Harris remarked. "We didn't talk even when we came in at halftime. There was nothing to be said. Guys were crying. It was really that horrific just to see."

What This Means

All is not lost for LeVert and the Nets this season. The 24-year-old was enjoying a breakout campaign in his third NBA term, averaging 19.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.

That he won't be needing surgery after such a scare is great news for both the player and the team. However, they will be forced to cope without him for the time being.
