Carmella won the very first women's Money in the Bank ladder match at last year's pay-per-view event on June 18, 2017. She has yet to cash in the contract, and recently made history as such.

According to Andrew Ravens of eWrestlingNews.com, Carmella has now broken a record for being the longest holder of the MITB briefcase, which stands at 281 days and counting. Per Ravens, Edge previously held the record for 280 days.

You may recall that Edge won the Money in the Bank briefcase at WrestleMania 21, before cashing it in at the 2006 Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. He then pinned John Cena with ease to capture the WWE Championship, as the former was a bloody mess after his Chamber bout.

Of course, Carmella also needed help to win her bout, as James Ellsworth (remember him?) interfered, climbed the ladder and handed her the briefcase. A rematch for the briefcase was implemented between Carmella and Becky Lynch, which the former obviously won.

Carmella has tried to cash in her championship opportunity contract multiple times, but it's never come to fruition. On the Jan. 30 episode of SmackDown Live, Carmella tried taking advantage of the Riott Squad attacking Charlotte.

But before the referee could start the match and have the bell rung, Carmella attempted to kick Charlotte - but she wound up hitting the official instead. Ms. Money in the Bank then took her briefcase and left.

Then on this week's episode, she tried cashing it in once again to face Charlotte for her SmackDown Women's Championship. But as you probably saw, The Queen was quick to react and booted away the briefcase.

Perhaps WrestleMania 34 will give Carmella the opportunity to cash in. Asuka will face Charlotte for her title, while Alexa Bliss will defend the Raw Women's Championship against Nia Jax.

Even if it doesn't happen at 'Mania, Carmella is running out of time to end what's becoming a lengthy "championship opportunity drought," if you will.
