Carmelo Anthony's Houston Rockets career certainly isn't going according to plan. The 10-time All -Star has failed to set the world alight following his move from the Oklahoma City Thunder over the summer and reports are now claiming that the team and player are discussing the future, with suggestions of a waiver.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported as much on Sunday, claiming that league sources have told them that it is possible that the parties proceed as planned for the remainder of the season, but likely in a revised role.

Anthony is averaging 13.4 points a game playing 29.4 minutes a night and his production isn't thought to be enough, with the team surprisingly 4-7 ahead of the match against the Indiana Pacers on Sunday night.

"The Houston Rockets and Carmelo Anthony are discussing his role with the team and how the franchise and the 10-time All-Star forward still might be able to proceed together for the rest of the season, league sources told ESPN."

The player has been listed as "out" for the game. However, head coach Mike D'Antoni insists he's playing "great."

"What he was doing. Melo's been great," he said after Saturday night's loss to the San Antonio Spurs. "What he's been doing is backing up the 4."

D'Antoni, though, deflected all questions regarding Anthony's future to the team's general manager, Daryl Morey.

"Yeah, that's ... I'm sure you can address that with Daryl. I'm trying to win a game," he remarked. "You need to talk to Daryl. On that one, I have no answer for you right now."

Meanwhile, Morey has said that the reports on the player possibly getting cut from the team are unfair.

"One of the reasons I'm here, besides it's 10 games in, about, is I think there's just a lot of unfair, like, rumors and everything going around about him," the GM said on Sunday night.

"He's been great with us. As Coach (Mike D'Antoni) said yesterday, his approach has been great. He's accepted every role Coach has given him -- starting, off the bench, whatever it's been.

"We're struggling as a team, and it's my job, it's Coach's job to figure this thing out. But from guy one to guy 15 - and I'll put myself in there; a lot of this is on me right now - we're not playing well. We've just got to figure it out. We're evaluating everything.

"We've been extremely happy with his approach. Every reason we've brought him here, he's followed. Again, that's why he's here. It's unfair that there's all this speculation on just one player. I understand it, because he's obviously a Hall of Famer, but it's unfair."

"I mean, you're asking the wrong guy," was his reply after being asked if Anthony wants to stay in Houston. "Everything I can tell is yes, absolutely."

ESPN have also claimed that Anthony's role on the team could be reduced even further if he decides to stay.

"I know, like Daryl said, they're exploring all options," D'Antoni added. "With everybody coming back, it squeezes some things, and then we'll see how it goes."
