The Cleveland Cavaliers have traded point guard George Hill and swingman Sam Dekker (update on Dekker below) to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for guard Matthew Dellavedova and center John Henson, according to a report from NBA.com.

The Bucks are also letting the Cavs have a 2021 first-round pick and a 2021 second-round pick.

According to ESPN's NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, it was important that this deal went down before 6 PM ET on Friday as it gives the sides the freedom to move the players again before the trade deadline in February.

PREVIOUSLY: CAVS PLAYERS UNHAPPY WITH KORVER TRADE

The Cavaliers are undergoing a rebuild at the moment and have already traded Kyle Korver, while J.R. Smith is all but departed. Milwaukee, on the other hand, had reportedly placed Dellavedova on the trading block earlier this year.

The point guard averaged meager figures in a Bucks uniform last season, registering 4.3 points and 3.8 assists per contest. This season, he has only played a total of 97 minutes across 12 games.

The Bucks' desire to let him go is also likely due to his $9.6 million salary, which simply wasn't worth that sort of contribution.

In Hill, though, they have acquired a very good defender who has also been shooting 46.4 percent from beyond the arc this term. They will also save $18 million in salary next season as a result of this trade and will now have added flexibility with which to upgrade their roster.

What This Means

Dellavedova should be a welcome sight back in Cleveland after spending three seasons with the Cavs before signing for the Bucks as a free agent. The guard's grittiness endeared him to supporters and he played a huge role in their 2016 championship campaign.

Cleveland seems content to take on significant contracts in order to collect draft picks. And, given that they're more than likely to get a lottery pick next summer, they could have a well-rounded, young roster ready to challenge for honors again in the years to come.

Update: Per Wojnarowski, the Washington Wizards have joined the deal as a third team and will acquire Dekker from Milwaukee in return for Jason Smith and a future second-round pick. The Wizards and Cavs will also swap second-round picks as part of the deal.
