2018 in the world of WWE has been all about the future of Universal Champion Brock Lesnar. Nobody knows for sure whether or not he’s going to remain with the company after WrestleMania, though all signs are pointing at his departure pretty quickly after his title match against Roman Reigns. Adding fuel to the fire is former UFC competitor Chael Sonnen, who stated on his podcast that the 40 year-old Superstar is eager to get back to competing in MMA.

During the most recent episode of “You’re Welcome With Chael Sonnen," the outspoken grappler was giving his thoughts about Lesnar and the WWE, claiming that “Brock doesn’t want to be in a WWE ring and jump around like a fool. Brock would have quit and walked away he hates it so much, but he’s a not guy with a great resume or great intelligence, and there’s only so many things he can do so he had to go back.”

The move back to the UFC has been gaining steam recently, after the WrestleMania match between Brock and Reigns was confirmed. It’s no surprise that the WWE wants to make Roman Reigns the face of the company, much like they did fifteen years ago with John Cena. Having him beat Brock for the Universal Championship is a move that would satisfy all parties. Sonnen claims that Lesnar can’t wait to leave.

Brock Lesnar’s disdain for professional wrestling has been well documented for years. He left once on less than amicable terms and eventually wound up in the UFC, where he defeated Randy Couture to become heavyweight champion. After he returned to the WWE in 2011, it was on the condition that he is given a lighter schedule than the 300 plus days a year that most Superstars endure.

There’s no doubt that the WWE would rather not see Lesnar leave, since he is a pretty huge draw when he is scheduled to appear. However, every time Brock gets in the ring, it is with an obvious chip in his shoulder, and he looks like he’d rather be anywhere else. So, maybe it’s time for the company to let him go his own way. Maybe then they can develop a new Superstar to replace the Beast Incarnate.
