Now that Charlotte Flair is SmackDown Women's Champion for a third time, she is tied with Trish Stratus for the most WWE title reigns ever by a female Superstar.

The road to Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch's WrestleMania match has taken so many twists and turns that we literally can't predict what will happen next. That was showcased this week on SmackDown Live when Flair was awarded an impromptu match against Asuka for the SmackDown Women's Title. In fact, The Queen won that match, thus ushering in her eighth reign as a champion on WWE's main roster.

The match came about after Lynch claimed Flair was bringing nothing to their WrestleMania match. A fair point that The Man has made numerous times. However, now the second generation Superstar does have something to bring to WrestleMania, a second title. It will presumably be on the line alongside Rousey's, although that has not yet been confirmed by WWE.

Flair's title win marks the third time she has won the SmackDown Women's Championship. However, it's when you add all of her title reigns together that you realize she is on the cusp of making history. Add those three reigns to her four Raw title wins and her one stint with the Divas' Championship and you have eight title runs. That puts her in joint first with Trish Stratus when it comes to women with the most title wins ever in WWE history.

We can already feel some of you throwing a flag on this as it has been assumed for a while that Flair was already tied with Stratus. However, that stat only relates to women's championships. As you can see above, Stratus did indeed win the Women's Title seven time. However, she was also a Hardcore Champion once too. So Flair now has the most women's championship reigns of all time, but not the most total title reigns for a female Superstar.

Flair tying Stratus's record will be nothing but a footnote in the grand scheme of things. What fans really want to know is what this all means. Will there now be two titles on the line in WrestleMania's main event? Will poor Asuka even be on the card. Time will tell, but with only one more Raw and one more SmackDown Live to go, there isn't too much time left to tell it in.
