The Chicago Bears are now the top dog of the NFC North division, after their prime-time victory against the Minnesota Vikings.

The Bears defeated the Vikings by a score of 25 to 20. With the win, the Bears now own a record of 7-3 and sit comfortably on top of the division.

The Vikings currently sit second to the Bears, with a record of 5-4-1. They also have a tougher remaining schedule than the Bears.

The Purple and Gold face off against the Green Bay Packers this Sunday night, then the team follows that game up with back-to-back road games against the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks.

However, the Bears have a much easier remaining schedule than the Vikings. Four out of the remaining six games are against teams with a losing record.

Two of those games also come against the New York Giants and the San Francisco 49ers, and they’re both towards the bottom of the standings in the league. The toughest game remaining on the schedule is on December 9th, when the Bears host the Los Angeles Rams.

That match-up does take place at home, where the Bears have a record of 5-1 this season. Their lone loss comes from a 38 to 31 defeat against the Patriots in week seven.

Despite where the standings are at now, this division could easily come down to the final game of the season. When the Vikings host the Bears the day before New Year's Eve.

If the Bears finish their six remaining games with a record of 5-1, they will clinch the division without needing any help from other teams. But if they don’t do that, that will then give the Vikings a chance to claw back into the race for the division, making the final day of the regular season the deciding game. The Bears would play on the road where they own a record of 2-2 this season.

A big reason why the Bears are at the top of the division is because of their top-five defense and the development of second-year quarterback, Mitchell Trubisky.

His numbers have skyrocketed from a season ago, which has turned into carrying his team to the top of the division this season. The Bears will need him and their dominating defense to continue to lead the way for them if they want to make a deep playoff run this January.

WHAT THIS MEANS

The Bears are in a prime position to win the NFC North division at this current time. They have the best defense in the division. Led by Khalil Mack, this Bears defense has been a top-five defense all season long.

If the Bears want to win this division and for them to make a deep playoff run, they will need their stars to continue to play the way they've been playing all year. They will also need to beat the teams they're supposed to beat; that all starts with beating the Detroit Lions this Thursday on Thanksgiving.
