Chris Hemsworth will be trading in his trusty hammer for some 24-inch pythons as he prepares to portray Hulk Hogan in an upcoming biopic.

The world of professional wrestling is often one that is sneered and laughed out by those outside of it. A lot of the time, those of us who love the business are ashamed to tell anyone based on the reaction we might get. Many see it as simply being for children, or laugh and say that dreaded rhetorical question we all hate so much. "You know it's fake, right?"

What puzzles us is that despite so many people claiming they have no interest in wrestling, the business continues to sell out arenas and even stadiums around the world. In fact, the wrestling world is now a part of the mainstream more than it ever has been before. The Rock, John Cena, and Batista are all massive movie stars. Plus, Fighting With My Family, a story about the life of Paige and her family is set to be a box office smash.

Fighting With My Family might well start something of a chain reaction when it comes to wrestler biopics. The Hollywood Reporter revealed this week that a biopic about Hulk Hogan is in the works. Judging by some of the names attached to the project, it is going to be a really big deal. For starters, Chris Hemsworth, aka Thor of Avengers fame, will be playing The Immortal One.

According to THR, the Hulkster biopic will basically be something along the lines of what we would expect from a superhero origin story. Hogan's time breaking into the business in Florida as well as his rise to prominence in WWE throughout the 1980s will be focused on heavily. However, the trials and tribulations Hogan has suffered during the course of the past decade will not feature. Probably for the best.

As well as Hemsworth, there are some other big Hollywood names already committed to the Hogan biopic. Bradley Cooper will be working on the project as a producer, as well as Todd Phillips who was heavily involved with the creation of The Hangover trilogy. Hogan will also be a part of the proceedings, obviously, as will his close personal friend and former head of WCW, Eric Bischoff. We already can't wait.
