WWE NXT and AEW Dynamite battled for television ratings over an 18-month span, but the "Wednesday Night Wars" officially ended last week.

Two weeks ago, WWE confirmed previous reports that they were moving NXT programming over to Tuesday nights, following WrestleMania 37 weekend.

Last week marked the final edition of the Wednesday Night Wars. The first night of NXT TakeOver: Stand and Deliver drew 768,000 viewers, topping the Dynamite viewership of 688,000 by a wide margin.

Although NXT closed it out on a winning note, Dynamite heavily dominated the head-to-head battle for ratings from start to finish. And unsurprisingly, several AEW talents have had a lot to say about it.

During an interview with Alfred Konuwa of Forbes, Chris Jericho claimed that AEW was "never really worried about what NXT was doing", citing that as the reason why they won the ratings battle. Jericho also stated that AEW drove the competition away from Wednesdays.

"Of course we’re competitive," Jericho said. "Yes, we wanted to beat NXT. Yes, we wanted to drive them screaming and yelling away from Wednesdays and we did that."

Back in September, Jericho called out NXT and told them to move to Tuesday nights. Sure enough, the move would actually take place seven months later.

Following NXT's move to Tuesdays, Impact Wrestling decided to move their programming over to Thursday nights.

Now, wrestling fans who follow all three promotions get to enjoy WWE/AEW/Impact Wrestling programming on all five weekdays. Cody Rhodes congratulated NXT on the move to Tuesdays and stated the fans are "the real winners."

The Move Benefits All Three Companies

This week's episode of NXT on Tuesday recorded 805,000 viewers, according to Showbuzz Daily (h/t Marc Middleton of WrestlingInc.com), marking the show's best viewership of 2021 thus far. Meanwhile, Dynamite drew 1.219 million viewers with no competition.

Simply put, the move greatly benefits everyone, not just the fans. NXT and Dynamite can expect higher viewership without any direct competition. Impact Wrestling was smart to move their programming to Thursdays, where they won't face any competition. It's a win-win-win for all three companies.
