Chris Jericho has said that All Elite Wrestling's Network deal will be announced soon.
The new wrestling promotion has several television networks making their case for a contract, per reports, but it's possible that one of them has already stolen a march.
AEW's Double or Nothing PPV is less than a month away and, according to Jericho, the company will begin their weekly television show this fall "on a huge cable company".
The former WWE and NJPW star let as much slip during an interview with Cheddar, revealing that an announcement regarding TV rights is on the horizon, while weekly shows should begin rolling by the end of September.
"May 25th is the first show at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. We sold it out in four minutes, 12,000 tickets. So there’s a lot of buzz about AEW, and in the Fall, we’re gonna be starting our weekly television on a huge cable company that we’re gonna be announcing very soon so, it’s not a competition, it’s just an alternative and it’s something that I think people and wrestling fans are waiting for because it’s been a long time with just the WWE, just one company,” he said (h/t Fightful).
That it's a "huge cable company" should tell us something. Many fans have been wondering which network will be the one to bring America's new wrestling company to their homes and it is rumored that Time Warner will be awarded the deal.
Well, as Chris puts it, we won't have to wait that long to find out.
What This Means
AEW is already causing quite a buzz. Having locked down Jericho, the company also secured Kenny Omega, while Cody Rhodes is part of its leadership as well.
Dustin Rhodes, formerly Goldust, will be making his way there too and is already set for a showdown with his brother at Double or Nothing next month.
The promotion has also struck a deal with the legendary Jim Ross, something which should go a long way in making them even more popular.
Wrestling fans simply can't wait to see what's on offer.
