The New Japan Pro Wrestling match between Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega at Wrestle Kingdom 12 was one of the most hyped up bouts in recent memory. It loved up to every bit of the hype, as Omega walked away victorious to retain his IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship.

Jericho vowed that it was going to be his last match for a while. An eventual return to the WWE may not happen in the near future, either. Jericho will be touring with Fozzy during the dates of the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 34.

It's also safe to say Jericho can't be bribed with money to return to the ring any time soon. On Twitter, Y2J revealed the fancy payday he made for NJPW by facing Omega in Tokyo:

Jericho's match against Omega received plenty of praise from critics. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter gave the match five stars. It pitted two of the biggest names in professional wrestling, and a pair of the finest trash talkers. There's a reason it was booked to last for almost 35 minutes.

The 47-year-old Jericho continues to defy father time but reinventing himself as one of wrestling's best. In his last run with the WWE, Y2J began using "The List of Jericho," which became one of the most popular gimmicks in the WWE during 2016-17.

Jericho has also added to his legacy as a selfless performer, helping put over younger talents like Omega, AJ Styles, Seth Rollins, Kevin OwensRoman Reigns and others. Considering how many top-end talents were buried by the likes of Hulk Hogan and Triple H, Jericho will always be remembered for helping out the business any way he could.

Though Jericho hasn't hinted at coming back to the ring any time soon, one has to believe he has several more runs in him. A great run in the WWE was followed up with a match for the ages against Omega, so who says he can't do it anymore?
