Chris Jericho will return to New Japan at Dominion to take on Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.

With AEW's debut event fast approaching, Chris Jericho is likely very busy preparing for his rematch with Kenny Omega. The two wrestling icons will compete one on one for the second time in what will likely be Double Or Nothing's main event. As stacked as the card is shaping up to be, we can't see a match more worthy of the show's main event slot so far.

While we don't know the specifics of Y2J's AEW contract, he has mentioned that it is the best of his career. He has also highlighted that it allows him to continue to compete for NJPW. Smart, but not a clause we expected him to exercise for quite a while. However, his next New Japan appearance has now officially been announced.

During NJPW's Wrestling Dontaku event this weekend, a Jericho vignette played unexpectedly, much like when Y2J first challenged Omega. This time, the veteran has his sights set on an even loftier prize. Jericho revealed that he will return to NJPW at Dominion, and he is coming for Kazuchika Okada's IWGP Heavyweight Championship.

During the dark and extremely well-done promo, which you can check out above, Jericho refers to himself as "The Pain-Maker." An obvious play on Okada's nickname, Rainmaker. Y2J then goes on to state that he will return to New Japan on June 9 to compete against Okada for his World Title. So just as we are recovering from the madness that will be Jericho versus Omega II, we'll be treated to a match that could be even better.

Many believe Okada to be the best wrestler in the world today. He isn't a five-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion for nothing. His imminent match with Jericho could well be why he became champion for a fifth time. Some fans wondered why Jay White's run with the title was cut so short at Madison Square Garden last month. It could well have been because New Japan bookers wanted this match to happen at Dominion.
