Chris Jericho made his first public comments since the police report surfaced of his AEW World Championship being stolen. Clearly, he’s not pleased.

When the story first broke, it sounded like a wrestling storyline reserved for the WWE 24/7 Championship. Unfortunately, what appears to be a legit police report was filed and it had gone around the Internet that days after winning the title, Jericho had lost it thanks to a theft that happened while out eating dinner.

Not a great look for AEW or the new champion and with all sorts of posts on social media from fans teasing that WWE was behind all this, Jericho tried to flip the script on all of the talk, turn it into a promo and address the fans.

Posting a video from his estate and hot tub, Jericho said:

"I'm AEW Champion Chris Jericho and unfortunately, less than 24 hours after I became the first AEW Champion, with blood streaming down my face after one of the hardest matches I've ever had in my life, some low life scumbag committed grand larceny and robbed me of the AEW Championship. Now, as I sit here in my beautiful mansion, I'm just imagining what I would do to that son of a b---h if he was here right now."

Jericho then said he was launching a world-wide investigation and using the top investigators in the world. He promised to find and restore the AEW Championship and finally give Jericho the 'thank you' he deserves.

Is Jericho A Master At Deception Or Just Seizing An Opportunity?

This promo is only going to add fuel to the fire that this is all an angle. Perhaps that's what Jericho wants. If he makes it appear as though this was all part of some master plan by AEW, the company doesn't look nearly as goofy as it does by simply having its champion lose his belt.

People will say this promo is damage control while others call is masterful. Either way, it's pretty creative. By taking something that is already big news — Corey Graves took a subtle shot at Jericho during SmackDown on Tuesday — and working it into his character, Jericho has once again proved he's smarter than most personalities in wrestling.

It's hard not to want to see the belt show up on WWE programming though, just to see the poop storm that would create.
