Chris Jericho became AEW World Champion at All Out and may have taken his first shot at his first challenger shortly after.

When AEW first set its World Title match in stone, we assumed that Hangman Page would be winning the championship. We wouldn't be surprised to hear that was the original plan. Whether plans changed or not, this past weekend at All Out, AEW's first World Champion was crowned, and it was not The Hangman.

It was Chris Jericho. A bloodied Y2J handled everything Page threw at him and eventually kept the young upstart down for a three count following the Judas Effect. Jericho celebrated in typical heel fashion, by berating people backstage and stating that he is still waiting for that thank you. Meanwhile, in the ring, Cody Rhodes was thanking fans who had attended the show.

411 Wrestling tweeted photos of Rhodes in the ring after the show, and those photos caught the attention of Jericho. The new champion replied, tweeting, "Typical. That blowhard always has to get the last word." Y2J is clearly not happy that he technically wasn't the last thing fans saw at All Out on Saturday. His tweet may also be the beginnings of something much bigger.

It could indicate the very first shot taken in a rivalry between Jericho and Rhodes. Before All Out, so prior to a champion even being crowned, AEW revealed when the eventual winner would be defending the title for the very first time. On October 16, 2019, in Philadelphia. So during AEW's third weekly show on TNT. That leaves plenty of time for Jericho and Rhodes to go back and forth on Twitter, and also for them to clash on one or both of AEW's first two weekly shows.

Our assumption right now is that Y2J won't be AEW's first World Champion for long. That he has simply been crowned as the first to hold the title to get casual and lapsed fans to tune in to that very first show on October 2. In fact, it wouldn't surprise us if Y2J loses the title in his first-ever defense on October 16. Right now, our money is on that defense being against The American Nightmare.
