As if Chris Jericho didn't already have enough wrestling records and accolades, he has just become the very first in the business to do something else.

WWE 2K19 has now hit video game shelves and fans around the world are quickly discovering what's great and what's not so great about this latest offering. There are plenty of new modes to dive into including the return of Showcase mode. This time around, fans can play through all of the key moments in Daniel Bryan's rise to WWE prominence.

As has become commonplace with WWE's annual video games, the roster of playable Superstars is once again bigger than ever before. Most fans have been focussing on the odd omissions, but how about a wrestler whose presence is a little surprising? Chris Jericho. Despite being active for New Japan right now, Y2J has made the cut on WWE 2K19.

Not only is that impressive in itself, but it also marks a first for a WWE video game. According to Reddit user UMDMustang92, Jericho is now the first person to ever be included on a WWE game while holding a New Japan title on the day of the game's release. Y2J is currently the IWGP Intercontinental Champion after defeating Tetsuya Naito for the title back in June of this year.

Other Reddit users have also pointed out another time Jericho appeared in a rival promotion's video game. During the late '90s, Y2J was apparently an unlockable character on WCW Mayhem despite having jumped ship to WWE by the time it was released. On the flip side, Bret Hart was US Champion in WCW while also being a playable character on WWF Warzone due to the game's release being delayed by a few months.

Even though Y2J can appear in our self-booked WWE Universes, all signs point toward him not returning to the promotion any time soon. As mentioned above, he currently holds one of New Japan's top titles. There are also rumors he will make his debut for Impact Wrestling some time soon, and even talk that he will start his own wrestling company alongside Jim Ross in 2019.
