The Houston Rockets are re-signing star point guard Chris Paul to a whopping four-year extension worth $160 million, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski:

Paul's first season with the Houston Rockets was a complete success, as the 33-year-old teamed up with James Harden to lead the team to an NBA-best 65 wins. The Rockets went all the way to the Western Conference Finals - but they narrowly fell to the Golden State Warriors in seven games. Paul was absent for the final two games of the series due to a hamstring injury.

The nine-time All-Star was limited to 58 games in 2017-18 as he dealt with multiple injuries, but Paul managed to rack up 18.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 7.9 assists. He and Harden quickly formed one of the NBA's dynamic duos, showing the world that there is a team that just might be able to dethrone the Warriors.

It was widely expected throughout the year that CP3 would return to Houston, given the strong fit he had with Harden. Now in his mid-30s, Paul only has so many prime years left to win a championship, and the Rockets were easily the best option for him.

Paul is one of the greatest point guards in NBA history, and it turned out to be a game-changer for the Rockets when they traded for  him last year. Paul had spent the previous six seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers, guiding them to the playoffs every year.

Should Paul manage to stay healthy through next year, Houston will remain the top threat in potentially dethroning the Warriors, who have won three of the last four NBA Championships. Paul and Harden are the only duo in the NBA that can go up against Golden State's 'Big Four'.

With this signing, Paul has committed the rest of his prime years to Houston. Now, if he can just go out there and capture the NBA Championship.
