Josh Gordon is one of the most talented wide receivers in the NFL, but the Cleveland Browns have had enough of him.

The renewed Cleveland Browns—who had their best start in 14 years, after a tie against the Steelers—decided to cut ties with the 2013 Pro-Bowler. On Saturday, the general manager John Dorsey announced that Gordon will be released on Monday since they’ve reached a point where it’s better to part ways, looking out for the best interests of the team.

"This afternoon we informed Josh Gordon and his representatives that we are going to release him on Monday," John Dorsey said. "For the past six years, the Browns have fully supported and invested in Josh, both personally and professionally and wanted the best for him, but unfortunately we've reached a point where we feel it's best to part ways and move forward. We wish Josh well."

After practicing all week with no problem, on Saturday, Gordon showed up late to the Browns training complex complaining about a hamstring injury. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, he hurt at a promotional shoot for a commercial that was a non-team sponsored event. Something that led the franchise to believe that the wide receiver is someone who they cannot trust any longer.

The Browns didn’t provide any details behind their decision, but the reality is that this was only the drop that spilled the glass. The 27-year-old has been suspended multiple times by the NFL for violating the league's substance abuse policy, missing the entire 2015 and 2016 seasons. Also, this year he missed most of the team’s offseason because of some personal issues, reporting to the team until mid-August.

Later Saturday, the wide receiver posted an Instagram story thanking the team that drafted him in 2012.

"Huge s/o to the city of Cleveland," Gordon wrote. "This place will always feel like home to me.. I'm extremely honored and blessed to have been able to grow up and start a life amongst such a passionate and motivated group of individuals... It's been a hell of a journey with you guys. I wish all of you nothing but the best.. Thanks to the @ClevelandBrowns organization for having me, I'll never forget my time here.

"Same book, next chapter..."

"P.S. Anybody need a deep threat WR??"

According to Adam Schefter, the Cleveland Browns will try to trade the wide receiver before releasing him on Monday, and they will prefer to send him out of the AFC. And apparently, Gordon already got his eye on two teams the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers. Both organizations are in need of receivers, so we might see Gordon playing for any of these teams in the next couple of weeks.
