Just when you thought the legal issues between CM Punk and Colt Cabana were over and done with, the ugly situation has once again reared its head.

Jon Moxley recently broke the internet when he told all about his time with WWE on Talk Is Jericho. However, five years ago, CM Punk did the exact same thing. The trouble is, Punk's podcast was a lot more defamatory. Rather than focusing on how WWE's product is booked, he went after how he was treated, particularly when it came to medical issues.

His comments led to Punk and podcast host Colt Cabana being sued by WWE doctor Chris Amann. That long legal battle ended in a Punk and Cabana victory. However, the stress of it all and the money involved in legal costs drove a wedge between the former friends. So much so that the pair have been opposite one another in court ever since.

PWInsider reported this week that there has been yet another twist in this unfortunate tale. Amid Cabana trying to sue Punk for legal costs he was allegedly promised, Punk has decided to countersue for half of what it cost for their mutual defense against Amann. Punk's lawyers claim that the popularity of their client's appearances on Cabana's podcast should have allowed him to contribute to legal costs.

When the podcasts originally aired, they naturally caused quite a stir. So much so that Cabana received a letter from WWE demanding that they be taken down. At that point, Punk urged Cabana to leave them up, which is what led to the lawsuit. However, Punk's lawyers now argue that another motivator for Cabana to leave the podcasts up was due to their popularity and the money he would have made from them.

This whole situation is an incredibly sad one. That two wrestlers who used to be such close friends have been driven apart by money. The worst part of all is the satisfaction WWE is likely taking in watching these events unfold. For WWE, this outcome is probably even better than if it had won the original lawsuit.
