CM Punk has called the NXT roster to action, tweeting that the brand's Superstars are being overshadowed by Pat McAfee and should feel embarrassed.

There's a long history of non-wrestlers trying their hand at the business. Whether it be for a one-off match or an extended run. Floyd Mayweather wrestled the Big Show at WrestleMania. Lawrence Taylor headlined WrestleMania XI against Bam Bam Bigelow. Dennis Rodman famously skipped practice for the Chicago Bulls so he could wrestle in WCW.

Those examples above and so many others have had varying degrees of success. One of the most recent examples saw former NFL punter Pat McAfee wrestle Adam Cole at NXT TakeOver. His showing went so well that WWE has decided to extend it. This Sunday at WarGames, McAfee will lead the Kings of NXT in a match against the Undisputed ERA.

While McAfee might still be honing his craft when it comes to wrestling, there's no doubting his abilities with a mic in his hand. That's the reason WWE brought him on board in the first place, to talk on kickoff shows. McAfee also has the ability to cut terrific promos in the ring and has even caught the attention of one of the greatest wrestlers on the mic ever.

That man is CM Punk. It would appear that the Second City Saint has been keeping half an eye on the black and gold brand. Punk even tweeted what he thinks of what he's seen, and it makes for pretty grim reading if you're not McAfee or Rhea Ripley. "Everyone else on the show(s) should feel embarrassment, and subsequently USE said feeling to better themselves, at the fact that @PatMcAfeeShow is a better promo than everyone," Punk tweeted.

We threw Ripley's name in there too as Punk followed up by tweeting, "He’s already the best thing on this show not named @RheaRipley_WWE." Very strong words from Punk, but there's no doubting McAfee is must-see TV when he has a mic in his hand. He's not shy to say what he's thinking either, which probably means he'll be dropping Punk's name the next time we hear from him. Even if he and The Kings of NXT lose this Sunday at WarGames.
