It's been five and a half years since C.M. Punk made his final appearance for WWE, but the former World Champion couldn't help but poke a little bit of fun at one of his former bosses.

A fan sitting front row at Extreme Rules posted a photo of Shane McMahon lying down in the ring during his tag team match (with Drew McIntyre) against The Undertaker and Roman Reigns. Punk couldn't help but take a big shot at "The Best in the World" with this savage tweet, which has since been deleted:

Shane O'Mac and McIntyre wound up losing to Undertaker and Reigns in an epic No Holds Barred match that lasted 17 minutes. McMahon had one of his best in-ring performances in recent memory, filled with epic stunts that brought the crowd to their feet. This included jumping off the top of the rope and onto Undertaker, who was laid atop the announcer's table.

Punk hasn't said a whole lot about the McMahon family in recent years, but he couldn't help but get in a hilarious shot at Shane O'Mac here. One can only wonder why he ended up deleting the tweet, because it was hilarious, clever and totally harmless.

The former main event star for WWE left under bitter circumstances in Jan. 2014, walking out before the Jan. 27 episode of Monday Night Raw aired. It was reported that he was disappointed with not headlining a WrestleMania, and that he was working through numerous injuries plus a serious MRSA infection. Given the ugly events that led to his departure, it's hard to see Punk returning to WWE ever again.

What This Means

CM Punk's departure from the WWE is still being felt to this day. It's not uncommon to hear "CM Punk" chants from the crowds, especially during segments/promos that involve the McMahons. It's disappointing that things had to end like this, but at the end of the day, CM Punk had to do what was best for his health and his career.
