CM Punk has asked wrestling fans an incredibly valid question. If they hate the business so much, why do they continue to follow it?

Hard to believe, but it has been more than five years since CM Punk walked out of WWE. Since then, the former WWE Champion's association with the business has been minimal. He poured his heart out about WWE on Colt Cabana's podcast, and there are rumors he was the masked wrestler who delivered a GTS at an indie show a few weeks ago.

However, Punk's main link to the business is the fans' unwillingness to let him go. Despite him fighting in UFC and trying to detach himself from the business, wrestling fans live in hope of a Punk return one day, us included. If he does truly not care about wrestling at all anymore, it must be incredibly frustrating to be continually linked with it.

With WWE's product less than stellar right now, and AEW breaking onto the scene, fans are hoping for a Punk return more than ever before. So much so that The Second City Saint felt the need to address it on Twitter. Punk accepted that he can't tweet about anything without being quizzed about wrestling so wrote, "Why do you spend your time on something you hate?"

He added "If it’s soooooo bad, leave it. I did. Works wonders." This actually makes a lot of sense in a way Punk might not have realized. There is a huge chunk of wrestling fans who watched WWE and WCW during the 90s and early 00s who left shortly after. Many of them were sucked back in by Punk's main event run in WWE. Perhaps that's what they are waiting for. For Punk to save the business for a second time.

No matter what Punk says, there will always be speculation that he is going to return one day. The only difference in 2019 is fans believe it will be with AEW rather than him rebuilding the bridge between himself and WWE. For most fans, all they need is to see him one last time. However, at this point, we doubt that will ever happen.
