Saturday's WarGames match has been labeled by some as the best bout in NXT history. Let's not forget who we have to thank for the innovative idea.

What a weekend of WWE action we were just treated to. On Sunday night, whether you're a fan of WWE's main roster or not, it's hard to argue that certain matches were exceptional. In particular the final two of the night. Ronda Rousey versus Charlotte Flair and the extremely pleasant surprise that was Brock Lesnar's battle with Daniel Bryan.

24 hours before Survivor Series, there was NXT TakeOver WarGames. Despite being just a five-match card, many believe it might have been the black and yellow brand's best offering to date. Johnny Gargano's showdown with Aleister Black was outstanding. Tomasso Ciampa and Velveteen Dream tore the house down. Even Shayna Baszler versus Kairi Sane was pretty great, although it wasn't given nearly enough time.

However, the star of the show was unquestionably the WarGames match that headlined Saturday night. All eight men involved in the match gave it everything, and we greatly appreciated that. Many fans have even suggested that it was the best match in NXT history. We'll let you make your minds up for yourselves on that one. However, do not forget the great man we have to thank for the iconic WarGames match.

That man is, of course, Dusty Rhodes. The American Dream thought up the barbaric match back during his NWA days. He even competed in a fair few of them and is one of the main reasons the match type became so famous. His son, Cody was sure to remind us of that over the weekend. The former Intercontinental Champion tweeted how proud he was of his father, and that talented wrestlers continue to entertain fans via a match that was his dad's vision.

One of the key ingredients in the two WarGames matches that have taken place in NXT so far is Undisputed ERA. The heel faction has appeared in both, winning one and losing the most recent one. What we really want to see is Adam Cole and co take on The Elite should the massive cage return to NXT for a third time. That might feel like an impossibility, however, we currently live in a world where almost anything can happen in wrestling.
