Twitter is a wonderful platform as it allows users to take the stage and very publicly voice their opinions, for both good and bad. Typically, the celebrities of the world will use it to brag about their lives or to call out a rival for one petty reason or another. As an example of the right way for an athlete to share, after March 25th’s Strong Style Evolved show in Los Angeles, Cody Rhodes took to the app to apologize for his actions toward someone who, up to now, was one of his best friends and stablemates.

The day after the most recent NJPW show to take place in the US, Cody Rhodes swallowed his pride and publicly apologized to Nick Jackson, one of the Young Bucks, and co-member of the Bullet Club stable. Rhodes expressed remorse and sought forgiveness for his actions which included a physical confrontation between the two.

While Cody claims that the aggression was not intentional, it appeared at the time that he was trying to drive a wedge between Nick and his brother Matt, over a power struggle that the Club is involved in with Kenny Omega. Rhodes took the title of leader of the Bullet Club from Omega in recent months when he and other members of the stable turned on Kenny in the ring.

The betrayal by Cody set up the reunion between Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi. The pair, dubbed the Golden Lovers, faced off against the Young bucks at the Pay-Per-View, which ended when they hit a Golden Trigger on Matt for the pin-fall win. After the match, Cody Rhodes came to the ring and confronted the Young Bucks, getting in Matt’s face before violently shoving Nick, and then taking off his jacket as if ready to fight him.

The attempt by Rhodes to make amends is a smart move for the leader of the Bullet Club. He needs to do anything he can to keep peace among the group, especially since the night ended with Matt joining him while Nick stayed in the ring with Omega. Whatever the result, this can only mean good things for the company as a whole. Both Omega and Rhodes are well-known competitors in the US, and this storyline is pretty reminiscent of those that North American fans are familiar with, so the added exposure outside of Japan will undoubtedly help NJPW grow to new levels.
