Cody Rhodes says it's not a very "sexy" story that the EVPs in AEW are getting along just fine, but he noted that they are and that he, Kenny Omega, and The Young Bucks talk regularly, ensuring that their programming goes off without a hitch.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful was on the AEW Double or Nothing pre-show media call Thursday and asked if Cody could offer any insight into the rumors that the EVPs were not on speaking terms. The Young Bucks had poked fun at the rumors and Sapp wanted to know if it was true or if Cody could expand on where that rumor might have come from.

Cody said when he first heard about it, he chalked it up to the fact that AEW was successful. He noted that after NXT lost the Wednesday Night Wars, it created a lot of anger. Saying there are a lot of hardcore fans of NXT and WWE fans out there, he's wasn't terribly surprised a rumor like that might get started. "I think people need to cling to something," he said.

AEW Cody Omega Young Bucks

Cody added that he speaks with Matt and Nick of The Young Bucks every day and talks with Omega often. "I support their projects fully and they've been supportive of all of my projects." He called Tony Khan the boss, but said, "we would not be able to put this show on the air if the four of us were not functioning as one team."

Saying they were still friends and their expansion onto TBS will require even more cohesive work together, "we will remain one team" Cody said.

Interesting Explanation From Cody

That Cody said there's no infighting isn't terribly hard to believe. These guys may not always get along or be on the same page for every decision, but it's important they find a way to work out any differences and stick together.

What was interesting in his response however, is that he believes it was NXT and WWE fans that started the rumor. Saying they were bent out of shape for "losing" the Wednesday night wars, spreading false narratives was their way of taking a shot at AEW's success.

Some will argue it wasn't much of a "war" to begin with, while others might say this is Cody actually taking a pot shot at WWE. Where do you sit?
